Every detail is important at 1st United Door. The first layer of cedar boards are applied to an insulated 13/4-inch thick two-sided steel sandwich door. The boards are applied smooth side up so that all the brad holes and knotholes can be filled with an epoxy based putty, and then the entire surface is sanded with 150-grit sandpaper. Section joints are cut at 15 degrees to minimize the appearance of the section joint and to help shed water from the joint.
